Providing information is your choice. When you undertake certain actions on www.stepwithrefugees.org, such as signing up to participate in the 2 Billion Miles to Safety campaign or signing up to donate to UNHCR, you knowingly provide us with personal information about you, such as your name, email address, telephone number and other information. We use this voluntarily provided personal information in order to interact with you and provide relevant services and information on the progress of the 2 Billion Miles to Safety campaign, your personal contribution to campaign progress, UNHCR’s work and opportunities to further support refugees. .
In addition, when you sign up on www.stepwithrefugees.org to join the 2 Billion Miles to Safety campaign and select the fitness app through which you may contribute miles/kilometres to the campaign, you will enable us to receive data on the number of miles/kilometres you have personally registered through the app. We use this information, received through an API connection with the app, to calculate the total number of miles/kilometres contributed to the campaign by campaign participants worldwide. We will also use the total of miles/kilometres registered by your personal fitness app to keep you informed on your personal contribution to the campaign, but will not make this information public.
We will not make public your personal information without your consent. We do not sell or share your personal information voluntarily disclosed to us with anyone outside UNHCR unless it is for the explicit purpose of completing a donation transaction that you initiate. If you provide your personal information when joining us online or signing up for specific services, you will only be contacted by UNHCR for purposes related to the 2 Billion Miles to Safety campaign or to the work of UNHCR.
Users who provide an email address and/or phone number via a UNHCR website and opt in to receive email communication from UNHCR will receive communications from UNHCR via email and, occasionally, phone and SMS. Each email or SMS sent by UNHCR includes an option to remove your address from the mailing list. In addition at any time, you can unsubscribe or modify your information by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will revise or update this policy if our practices change, or as we develop better ways to keep you informed about them.
