When Zeenab's house was destroyed, she and her family fled from Syria to Jordan in search of safety. This is her story.
After their house was destroyed, Zeenab and her family were forced to flee. “There were air strikes and dead bodies all around us… I didn’t want my kids to end up like that".
In the dead of winter, the family left with only two changes of clothes for each of the children. "We couldn't bring any blankets because it was really hard to carry everything".
The journey was extremely difficult with Zeenab and her husband having to carry their children but, eventually, the family made it to the safety of Jordan.
Upon arrival, the family were relocated to Za'atari camp, close to the country’s northern border. “We’re grateful. Winter here is difficult, but it’s still better than Syria”.
Zeenab and her family are now receiving winter cash assistance from UNHCR, providing them with the funds needed to insulate their shelter and pay for fuel to survive the winter.
